Ella Gettin’ Down

Here’s a video of Ella dancing. She’s been doing this really hilarious face and we caught it on video!! I wish I did this with Jayden. I know we have some video of him, but sadly I don’t even know where the tapes are. Hopefully when I start going through the boxes in the garage I’ll stumble upon them.

Note to Ella:

My beautiful baby girl, you dance better than J Lo, baby ~ you go, girl!

Our Friday Family Project

Yesterday was an In-service day at Jayden’s school so that means NO SCHOOL! I wanted to do something special with him so we out to lunch together and talked about what fun project we could do together. We decided to surprise Daddy at work and went to go and buy some planting stuff. Jayden had given me some flowers for Mother’s Day and I thought it would be fun to repot them. So off to Home Depot we went. The store that I think almost everyone can get lost in and leave with an empty bank account. Target’s a little like that as well – might even be a little worse for me.

So, we ended up buying a new hose w/a sprayer on it, some cute little Terracotta pots with turtles on them. We planted tomatoes & strawberries in those. I kill plants. I’ve never had a green thumb, but I really want to try here. I want to have a garden and be like all the other Mormons out there! One of the plants that I killed, which is also one my husband tried so hard to keep alive, was planted in a pretty little pot. So we ripped the plant out and planted the flowers that Jayden gave me for Mother’s Day. He loved it! Gino got home in time to help us with our project, so it became a family project…. nothing’s better than that!

The Hard Times of Parenting

I’m just gonna come out and say it. Parenting IS HARD! I love the mothers out there that act like it’s so easy to have a perfect house and perfect children. Lucky them! Last night Ella couldn’t get close enough to me. She finally fell asleep and I turned over in hopes that I would now be able to fall asleep. Well, guess what! SURPRISE, Mama I’m crawling over you – and I’m going wrap my body around yours. Somehow she got comfortable when her body was covering my face, and honestly I have no clue what we looked like, but it wasn’t fun. I’m sure she would’ve been a lot happier if she could’ve just crawled right back inside of me. I probably would’ve gotten a lot more sleep too. 6am rolls around and who’s slapping my face? That’s right, Queen Ella. Today will not be fun.

Ella Turns 9 Months

Dear Ella,

Today you’re 9 months old, Ella. I haven’t even had your picture taken professionally 1 time in the 9 months of your life. I must apologize for that right now. Heck, we’ll just say that the 3 month picture of Jayden in angel wings was you… okay? I think you might be the smartest 9 month old in our world as we speak. I’m waiting for you to bust out some algebra problems for me. I tried to teach you sign language and you actually looked at me like I was nutty and spoke the words in clear English. I don’t know many 9 month old babies out there that actually say “Doggy!” when they see a doggy. The words in your vocab that I can bee 100% certain on right now are…. All Done, Kitty (Itty), Doggy, Dada, Mama & Ella. You rock, girlfriend! When I talk you really study my mouth to figure out how you can say what I’m saying. You’re not walking yet. I must say I’m stunned at this. You’ve been standing perfectly and even dancing while standing, yet you refuse to step forward. I guess it would look a little freakishly to see a baby as short as you walking around. You have a total of 4 teeth. On the 8th of this month you had your 2 front, top teeth break through at the exact same time. It was approximately 3:47am – I know this, because you were screaming and therefore, I was up rubbing your gums for you. I know, I’m a 5 star mama!

I have no stats on you yet. You have a doctor’s appointment on the 20th, and I am pleased to say that you will NOT be getting any shots at that appointment. They actually might get to see a smile from you if you have forgotten what happened there last time.

Finally got a picture of Ella Standing

She’s been standing for so long and I haven’t got a good pic of it til today. She’s even able to stand and dance now! I do have a video of her dancing that I need to upload on the computer and post. It’s so cute. She’s so cute. I’m not pushing the whole walking thing, but I see it coming very soon. This girl’s balance is so good for an 8 1/2 month old baby. She can easily stand and squat down to pick something up and then resume back to her standing position. CRAZY! Well, here she is standing holding her brother’s Monster’s Inc. hat since she is Boo and watching TV.

Layout for Ella

So the plan is to have this printed and framed and hung above Ella’s crib. The picture used in this layout is of me leaning over Ella right after they took her breathing tubes out. It’s still a work in progress – I think that I might put the wording on vellum and do something with that… any suggestions would be great if you have any! I get the feeling of it being too simple, but in a way I think that’s what I’m shooting for since it’s going above her crib.

Blessing Weekend

We had an amazing weekend. Close to a year ago I met a girl named Jen. I met her on a message board that I used to be a part of and we became very close. She’s LDS and actually is why I am back in church. This past weekend her and her husband, David, and their adorable puppy, Lily, drove for 6 hours to come and visit us. It was the first time that we got to meet each other after chatting endless hours online and through text messaging. We had the honor of having her husband bless Ella & Jayden in church on Sunday. The blessings were so special. Gino got to hold Ella while the circle went around them. Ella didn’t scream, which I expected her to do. Jayden’s blessing was done after Sacrament in the Bishop’s office. He was such a little man. I’m really happy that he got blessed, even though it wasn’t until he was 6. I think it’s important.

She’s just full of new things!

I have to come on here and talk about this so the date is recorded. I was folding laundry in my room and Ella was in there watching Yo Gabba Gabba – freaky show, but she LOVES it – anyways… she sees her baby brush on the floor and the Ella Mission starts. She crawls quickly over to the brush and picks it up, pulls herself up so she’s holding onto my bed and standing. Then I glance over at her and she’s standing there. Unassisted. I was so excited for her I clapped and she got excited and waved and then fell on her butt. 8 Months and 4 Days old and she’s standing on her own. This only means one thing….. walking will be coming soon. And yet another milestone that shows she’s growing much too quickly.

Waving

This waving thing Ella’s doing is just so cute…. even at 3:15am. Ella woke up at 3:15am and stood up in her crib and started waving to us and saying “HI DADADADA!!!!” I wanted to put the covers over my head and cry, but when I opened my eyes and looked at her she had the cutest smile and her waving was just precious. She loves to wave at everything – and she gets a flirty little smile on her face as she does it. As we speak she’s waving at my wedding pictures. But my question is why is it always Hi Dada? Why can’t it be Hi Mama? It’s just another step in her life that shows she’s growing up, but I love the little personality that is shining through her. I can say one thing – she’s no doubt a Leo.

My Hungry Monster

Here is how excited Ella gets when given “real” food. If you can’t tell by the picture she now poses when she sees the camera being brought out. She definitely is a Leo…. even more than her mama is.
