Worked for YOU Wednesday…. Morning Sickness

I LOVE asking for advice…. and this week at {We Are THAT Family}, Works for Me Wednesday is all about asking what works for other’s…

SO! I should have planned more, because now I sit here twirling my hair wondering what in the world I need help on.

I GOT IT!

I’m recently pregnant… I’ll be 7 weeks along on Thursday and I just started Morning Sickness…. not very happy about this.  Today is day 2 of having to run to toilet.  YUCK!

So. Here’s where you can help me. What in the world helped you with this? I have preggo pops and those help some, but I’d love other advice.

  1. Weird I know but I drank a lot of mint tea…I read it somewhere and it really helped me but I had to drink it in little sips. Ginger tea too. I will make you some when I move in SO SOON!!!

  2. I am so sorry! I had morning (24 hour!) sickness with both of my girls. Though I never I had to actually throw up, I had the nausea non-stop through my entire pregnancies! I'm so sorry!

A few things that helped for me were saltine crackers, cold cucumbers in a container of water (weird, I know. I just kept a tupperware bowl full of water and cucmumbers in the fridge!) grapefruit my second pregnancy (took me three years to eat grapefruit again after that!). I did peppermint tea too.

I hope you feel better soon and I hope it doesn't last long! 🙂

  3. First off, this tip is not from my own experience. I thankfully never had issues with morning sickness. Anyways I was always told to in the morning stay in your bed a few minutes longer and eat soda crackers and sip water. Supposedly worked 🙂 GOOD LUCK!

  4. Ginger is an anti-nausea herb- make tea with it. I have a homeopath that I work with on different things. He's amazing, including dealing with my anxiety disorder years ago to helping my daughter get pregnant when the docs told her there was nothing they could do. His name is Mark Johnson. He's located in Orem, Utah. His number is 801-434-9490. He sells tinctures that help normalize the hormones in your body. There is one called Rubus Idaeus. It's young raspberry shoots in a liquid. You put 5 drops under your tongue a couple times a day. It helped another daughter and several of her friends when they were pregnant. Google him and see what you think. If he doesn't have a client he will talk just about as long as you need. Good luck and remember…the end result is so worth it!!!

  5. I haven't had morning sickness as I'm yet to concieve, but I've been told ginger is good, and lightly fizzy drinks can be good, a good combination being ginger beer, even slightly watered down.

  6. Cola slurpees and candy cane lane hot tea by Celestial Seasonings helped me. Also eating a little bit throughout the day. Even now at 17 weeks if I wait too long to eat I get nauseous, not fun. Good luck.

  7. I had all day long, all nine months sickness with my first! I feel for you! I had to eat regularly and often just small snacks. If I didn't ever feel hungry, that was good. If I felt hungry, I would end up getting sick on whatever I would eat. Also I would eat some crackers (saltines or ritz, whatever you like) before I even got out of bed in the morning. This helped some. With my first I ended up on meds for the sickness but these things did help with my second. Good luck, congrats and here's to a healthy nine months!

  8. I only had a slight case of it with DD #1, but found that eating a small amount (crackers, cheerios, bread) before I got out of bed each morning made a huge difference! I also consistently ate every 2-3 hours to make sure my tummy was never empty. Also, drink lots of water.

I hope it does not last long for you!

  9. My MS always kicked in when I was 6 weeks along too! Nothing helped me. Sometimes little snacks of crackers but I just accepted both times that I was going to be sick and I dealt with it. I HATED dealing with it but NOTHING worked for me. Good luck!

  10. Congrats on the pregnancy:)

I also have dealt with morning sickness with this pregnancy of mine (almost 23 weeks!!). I found that I had to have solids before liquids when I ate:)

I finally broke down and changed my prenatal vitamin!! And I was cured:) I used the generic Walmart now and my midwife said that I could also take the flintstones complete chew able….. after you eat something SOLID!!

To get through the nausea stage I also would drink a little Sprite (etc) about 10 minutes before I ate…. we never have soda in the house so it was a treat for everyone… LOL!! it just seemed to settle my tummy especially if I was the one cooking:)

My mom suggested pistachios…. when she had nauseau due to chemo- theraphy… she's eat a few pistachios and she'd actually WANT to and could eat after thaT.

  11. Morning sickness is the worst!!! Lemonade was the only thing that helped my nausea during my first pregnancy–I drank it all day long. That didn't help much in my second pregnancy, for that I had to go on Zofran (prescription). Good luck and congrats!

  12. With my second child, I was sick up until the time I gave birth. I'm throwing up and all the nurse can say is don't push, the doctor is not in the building. I kid you not!

I have heard having Ginger Snaps can helps calm morning sickness.

I pray that the morning sickness will go away after the first trimester.

  13. hope your morning sickness goes away fast!

my few ways of helping me through my last two (the first i just was sick start to finish!) was to have a green smoothie with my vitamins and took a B12 supplement per my doctors recommendation and it worked!

i asked someone this same questio n and they said the cure all was to not get pregnant 🙂 funny but too late or I wouldnt be asking!

  14. I had to drink smoothies with protein in them…I put as much protein as I could (without being bad for me) in a milk glass and stirred until ready for me…then I took a straw (because I couldn't even BEGIN to taste it YUCK, nothing tasted good) and put the straw in the back of my throat and drank it down…it worked so well, I did it with all three pregnancies!
